Hardware~ ICT Homework

Devide into 3 groups of devices :
  • Input device
  • Output device
  •  Processing device

1.      INPUT DEVICE
  • Keyboard
Keyboard is an input device. The functions to type or input letters, numbers or certain symbols into software of operating system run by the computer. So, keyboard can give a direct instruction or order to the computer. Keyboard is connected to the computer with a cable in the keyboard.
  •    Mouse

Mouse is an input device. Mouse is a pointing device that is used to manage cursor position on the screen and input data into computer besides keyboard. Mouse works by capturing movement using a ball that touches a hard and flat surface. By dragging mouse on a flat surface, cursor on the screen will slide based on the direction and sliding of the mouse.

  •   Scanner

Scanner is an input device. Scanner is a device used to scan a text, picture/image, etc. The scanning result will be transformed into a computer as digital data and stored in computer memory.
  •   Barcode Reader

Barcode reader is an input device. This device functions to read a squared or thick vertical lines code that is translated to numbers. This barcode usually sticks on food, drinks products, electronic devices, books, etc.

1.      2.  OUTPUT DEVICE
  •   LCD Monitor

LCD monitor is an output device that produces information on screen as the media. Can look like a television screen. It can produce information in the form of character or image.
  •   Printer

Printer is an output device that produces printed data on paper as the medium. The device can print output processing or program result, on paper, both as single sheet or as continous form. Printer can produce printing on various models or kinds of quality.

  • Projector

Projector is an output device. The function is to display the result of image/visual processing data. Usually, a white wall, whiteboard or spread white cloth/screen is used as the receiver media.
  •   Portable Speaker

Speaker is an output device that can produce or display sound or voice data

1.      3.  PROCESSING DEVICE
  •   CPU (Processor)

Processor is the brain of computer. A processor functions to process all computation that should be done by the computer. The strength of a processor is counted from in frequency, such as 550 MHz.
  •   Harddisk

harddisk is a storage media in a CPU. harddisk has components such as platter, head, electronic series, lasing structure, DSP, chip memory, connector, spindle, and actuator arm motor controller.
  •   Memory

Memory in a CPU is divided into two parts, RAM (Random Access Memory ) and ROM ( Read Only Memory ). Ram functions to store programs we process for the time being. If the computer is turned off, then data in RAM will disappear. ROM can only be read so that programmer cannot fill anything inside the ROM. ROM has been filled by the manufacturer as an operating system consisting of basic programs
  • VGA Card

VGA card is a processing device. VGA (Vidor Graphic Adapter) card is useful to translate computer output to the monitor screen.
  •   Sound card

 ·         Motherboard

Motherboard is a processing device. The functions as place for all CPU’s main devices. Motherboard looks like an electronic circuit board.
  •  Fan

Fan is a processing device. A computer fan is any fan inside, or attached to, a computer case used for active cooling, and may refer to fans that draw cooler air into the case from the outside, expel warm air from inside, or move air across a heatsink to cool a particular component.
  •   Network Card

NIC (network interface card) is a PC with a networkinterface, allowing your computer to connect to a network of majorkomputer. The function of the NIC is to allow the computer to berkomunikasidalamnetwork. He does this by sending / receiving traffic danmengontrol with computersor other devices on the network.
  •    Power Supply

A power supply is a device that supplies electrical energy to one or more electric loads. The term is most commonly applied to devices that convert one form of electrical energy to another, though it may also refer to devices that convert another form of energy (e.g., mechanical, chemical, solar) to electrical energy. A regulated power supply is one that controls the output voltage or current to a specific value; the controlled value is held nearly constant despite variations in either load current or the voltage supplied by the power supply’s energy source
